At first glance you might think Onslow was just a lazy bum and while this is true you soon learn that he was also rather smart. I can’t help thinking that he would have really made something of himself if it wasn’t for his bone idle laziness!
Apart from the above he was one of the best characters in the BBC comedy Keeping up Appearances. Brother-in-law to the stuck up Hyacinth Bucket, he was always looked down on by her but if we are all honest Onslow had life sorted!
Wearing his relaxed clothing and FH logo hat, he had his own style.
Talking of his hat, did you ever wonder what the logo was all about? Well I did as well so I decided to do a bit of research and it is a good story if true!
When Geoffrey Hughes who played Onslow was on a trip to New Zealand he was stopped by a truck driver who recognised him and gave him his hat. FH stands for Fulton Hogan who are a road building and construction company.
Onslow then went on to wear said hat in almost every episode!
What was your favourite Onslow scene? Mine was when he and Daisy won a free trip on the QE2! The comment he made about having to eat with the crew was hilarious considering they had been invited to sit at the captains table lol. Something most guests could only ever dream of on a luxury cruise!
